Here she is- the queen of my collection for the past 25 years. Springfield Armory M1 Garand Rifle. Purchased by me from the CMP in the year 2000 and never fired once. Kept in a climate controlled safe and brought out for cleaning/oiling/drooling/smiling every 6 mo. or so. CMP Special Grade really meant Special back then. Serial number indicates Dec. 1943 production at the real/original SA in Massachusetts, so plenty of time for some WWII and certainly Korean War service. Barrel is new/mirror/unfired as installed by CMP in 2000. New Walnut wood also from CMP. Op rod looks new with shiny silver gas tip. I personally replaced every single spring in the rifle myself with new or NOS GI over the years. It’s as mint and ready as it can be made to be.
Here are the extras-
4 cans of 30-06 M1 specific ammo from PPU and S&B 150 gr. FMJ- 768 rounds/96 clips/16 bandoleers/4 cans total. Loaded to M2 Ball specs which is safe for the Garand gas system. About an 80-20 mix of PPU to S&B. 4 bandoleers per can with 6, 8 rd. clips per bandoleer.
Fur lined US marked case.
A collection of tools and spare parts- see pic. Both gas wrenches and bolt disassembly tool- which is all you’ll ever really need. Spare USGI cotton OD sling.
Leather repro sling marked MILSCO 1943 (to match rifle prod. date). Made in USA- not cheap Indian or Chinese.
GI oiler and cleaning kit installed in their proper buttstock carrying holes.
5 extra/empty bandoleers
15 unloaded spare clips- 12 8-round and 3 5-round if you ever want to hunt or compete with this.
Books- “The US M1 Garand Rifle in Pictures”, “The M1 Garand Owner’s Guide”, M1 Garand Serial Numbers and Data Sheets”.
A genuine WWII 1943 (to match rifle 1943 prod. date) Combination Scorebook- unmarked. Google these if you don’t know what they are. Very cool- like the record book for the rifle- and the rifleman. Luckily I never got around to filling it in- now you can.
I think that’s it. All go to you for $2500. Take a look around and you’ll see this is a rippin’ deal. No trades please need cash- would never dream of selling otherwise.
FtF in Helena preferred but I can drive some if needed. Buyer must be an adult Montana resident not prohibited from possessing the rifle or ammunition by Montana state or US federal law. Buyer must be willing to show MT CCL or Driver’s Lic as well as sign bill of sale.
Thanks for looking and feel free to message me with questions. I’ll be around for a few hours until I head out for a few meets then I’ll be back on this evening.
