You are looking at a (non-firing) 1970’s Franklin Mint produced gold and nickel finished and engraved John Wayne Commemorative Model 1873 Colt Single Action Army display piece. This one is unlike the others and is one-of-a-kind in that the original faux ivory grips were replaced with a custom set of far more realistic aged ones (still faux ivory) that were masterfully hand-carved with a steer head on the right grip panel and signed by the artist “D.F.” This came from a collector in Helena.
While the gun is a non-firing prop
replica recreation of the one made for The Duke, SN# 151284, this is definitely no Dennix. Every screw, every piece, every Colt marking is 100% accurate and of equal quality to a live-fire Colt. (The Franklin Mint worked with ATF to make it a non-firearm by not boring the barrel through or rifling it, making the chambers in the cylinders a slightly smaller diameter and blocking them so that shells cannot be chambered. The firing pin is also just short enough so that it won’t protrude through the frame. Other than that, the gun operates and disassembles
the same as the real thing right down to the four distinct clicks and tight lockup).
The dummy .45 rounds and badge in the pictures aren’t included but I’d consider parting with them separately or include them in the right trade offer.
