FOR SALE: an unopened, vintage 3LB keg of ALCAN AL-5 powder. This factory sealed keg has been stored for many years indoors and it’s in good shape except for some surface rust on the tin metal bottom. Since I have not opened the keg, I can’t vouch for the contents inside but there are no odd smells or discoloration of the cardboard shell. ALCAN powders were produced in Sweden by the Bofors military industrial conglomerate and imported by the ALCAN Company of Alton, Illinois. Smith & Wesson later bought out ALCAN and they ended the ALCAN powder line in the early 1980s. The AL-5 powder was originally marketed for shotshell reloading although it also was commonly used in pistol cartridges like 9mm, 38 Special and 45ACP. I have some old reloading manuals that have AL-5 reloading data.
