@peepso_user_2(Randy) He needs to replaced by hard-core 2A supporter.

1. All of the "cons" of carring a firearm may well happen. That is the price of freedom. This is why it is said so many times, "freedom is not free".
2. Stop and frisk???? WTF is he talking about? To stop, you must have probable cause, period. Yikes.

@peepso_user_5148(dwsas1) I saw that too...he seems a bit Left of center, Not certain he is the best rep to support 2A, here.

@peepso_user_4420(GWG) He seems to be decent. Cirtianly more level headed than LEO's where I come from. He just suffers from long years of training that has helped shape his superiority complex and reinforced those ideas of the,"contemp of cop", attitude so prevelent across the country that will now be used to destroy and replace them .
Many of my relatives are in law enforcement back in FL. We did not get along to say the least, which was fine for them because the sheriffs office issued an internal memo telling all staff and deputies that they could not have friends outside the sheriffs office. Yes, they actually put this policy in writing.
Where I came from we had a newely elected sheriff that actually said in his first interview, " we are as of now, a quazi-military, rank driven, orginization"' and refered to us constanly as "civillians", and actually called the county a "battle space". He began an onslaught of armored vehicle proliferation, changing the common uniform of deputies to look like soldiers on the battle field, and even buying a 75mm artilery piece. Nobody batted an eye in FL. Talk about BSC!
So, you have it easy here. But I have seen where it can go and its scarry as hell.

@peepso_user_5148(dwsas1) you have no idea what your talking about..law enforcement is ran in a military structure..as in rank and command and control. I was a Florida coo, my friends are still Florida cops...there is no way they put in a memo you can't have friends outside of the sheriff's office, nonsense..they do have policies that say you can't associate with known criminals.

As far as having military equipment, yes they do. It's all surplus. When a terrorist event occurs, the military doesn't respond first. Police do. You sound like a liberal to me, and that's fine. But it isn't a cops job to give his life in the line of duty, it's a bi-product. They should have access to the best equipment, to give them the best chance of coming home, and staying in the fight until it's over.

If you think it needs to be different, put on a badge and go see. Work your way to the top and change it

@peepso_user_3954(bml0807) I am not a liberal at all, I am a conservative. I served my Country honorably in two wars. I have taken part in policing actions in a military role but not as a primary objective. I am not a republican, not a libertarin, not any party affiliation, just an American that wants to conserve the Bill of Rights and Constitution. Not a criminal and never been convicted of any crime. I believe in God, my Country, and Liberty.

I cannot account for what you have or have not seen, nor will I try to, It would make me look foolish. They did release an internal memo saying exactly that and it was leaked to local newspapers( the story has been censored completely now) and then they backtracked, externally at least. It is the very attempt of this kind of control at the highest levels and the fact that it was not completely rejected outright by all deputies that is repugnant and alarming.

When and if a terrorist attack occours, the first response is always to the people actually real time involved. Therefore, as you put it, those people should also have access to "military equipment", you know, surplus. "They should have access to the best equipment, to give them the best chance of coming home, and staying in the fight until it's over". I completely agree. The police may enter after the initial contact and usually do, unless the attack is on a police asset. Then and only then would they be the first response.

The police should not live in fear of their lives for lack of anything. I agree with this also. They also should not be using it as an intemidation tactic towards the general public. I have seen this firsthand in FL, again it must be stressed, I cannot account for what you have or have not seen nor will I try to, It would make me look foolish. I have not seen it here in Montana yet and that is a good thing.
