For sale is a very nice 1948 Marlin 39A .22 caliber lever action rifle with a 24-inch barrel. This barrel has ballard cut rifling that was used by Marlin before the microgroove barrels that began in the 1950’s. The buttstock and forend are in excellent condition with no noticeable dings, dents, or flaws. The stocks have very nice finish, color, and grain. The bluing on the barrel is very strong. This is an all-original rifle with no modifications or alterations. It is just the way it came from the Marlin factory. Many knowledgeable gun folks feel the Marlin 39A (this rifle) is the finest lever action rifle ever made. This rifle was machined by hand by skilled craftsman and uses all forged parts. No stamped or CMC parts on this rifle. It is build strong and built to last. The only flaw I see on this rifle is on the buttplate. There is a small chip piece missing near one of the screws. It is small, about 1/8 inch in size. It can be repaired or replaced for $20.00 or so. Feel free to send me questions, I’ll be happy to answer. Feel free to send me a fair and reasonable offer if you wish.
