I bought this gun years ago, intending to refinish it as a hobby project. It is chambered for 2 1/2-inch shells, which are easily obtained by mail, and I will include about five boxes with it. This would be an ideal, safe, and soft-recoiling starter gun for a youngster, but DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIRE 2 3/4-INCH SHELLS IN IT! The “Acier Special” stamp means special steel was used to make the barrels, as opposed to older Damascus or twist steel. The “Helice” locking mechanism, is known for being exceptionally strong and reliable. The crown over a PT and the crossed palm branch on the underside of the barrels confirm the gun was officially tested in the famous French arms-making city of Saint-Etienne and that it was approved for smokeless powder.
