I bought this gun years ago, intending to refinish it as a hobby project. It is chambered for 2 1/2-inch shells, which are easily obtained by mail, and I will include about five boxes with it. This would be an ideal, safe, and soft-recoiling starter gun for a youngster, but DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIRE 2 3/4-INCH SHELLS IN IT! The “Acier Special” stamp means special steel was used to make the barrels, as opposed to older Damascus or twist steel. Barrels are 27 1/8” long, bores are perfect, and chokes measure IM (Improved/Modified) in both. The “Helice” locking mechanism, is known for being exceptionally strong and reliable. The crown over a PT and the crossed palm branch on the underside of the barrels confirm the gun was officially tested in the famous French arms-making city of Saint-Etienne and that it was approved for smokeless powder.
