This is a custom rifle built on Tikka action. Ultralight stock, Lilja 1:8 barrel, tuned trigger (just over 1 pound), custom brake. Built by Dan Coffin in Victor. Designed to shoot 170 Berger EOL, so long throat and long magazine.
When initially set up, would easily hit steel at 1200 yards with regularity. I used it to shoot elk, deer and antelope. It was a tack driver until I pulled it out a few years ago. It started throwing shots out of group at random. Not consistently the first, second or third shot. No particular direction. Just every now and then, two shots in one hole and another an inch away. I got mad at it and put it in back of safe.
I didn’t want to sell the gun if it couldn’t shoot, except maybe for parts, so I decided to shoot it again. Couldn’t even find any of my old load. I threw a scope on it and shot factory 140 load I had. First group getting on paper shown. Apparently it can still be serviceable.
